Purpose:
The Calendar Committee will review stakeholder input regarding the school year calendar. The committee will look at certificated staff work calendars, student school year start/end dates and break schedules. The committee will develop calendar options and make a recommendation to the school board.
Basis for Establishment:
- An annual calendar must be developed to support our educational programming at each level.
- Align educational support structures, requirements for professional development initiatives, inclusive of three waiver days and contract obligations.
- Annually, a new calendar must be developed by June 1 to meet the policy requirements of the Meridian School District.
Plan of Work:
- Review Our Commitments, Meridian’s Strategic Plan.
- Review state law requirements, collective bargaining agreements, educational programming, and professional development commitments.
- Develop the 2024-25, 2025-26 and 2026-27 school year calendar.
- Submit draft calendars to the school board for approval.
