A Message from Superintendent Dr. James Everett

Yesterday evening our school board approved a resolution to put forth a bond to build a new Meridian Middle School. The resolution will appear on the April 22 special election ballot.

Thank you to everyone who completed the survey we shared in November collecting feedback about the previous facilities bond. We received over 400 responses from our community. It was clear from the feedback that our community understands the need for a new middle school and believe it should continue to be a priority. In early January, we reconvened our Facilities Task Force to review community feedback and help us determine next steps.

In response to your feedback and the task force recommendation, we are moving forward with a bond that focuses solely on building a new Meridian Middle School.

Based on your questions and feedback we have a number of resources available:

The decision to propose the middle school project as a bond measure has been a multi-year process. It began with a study and survey conducted by an independent company and involved a Facilities Task Force composed of staff, parents, and community members. Throughout this process, we have provided several presentations and feedback opportunities for our community.

We do not present this bond lightly. However, we also recognize the necessity of a new middle school that is a safer, modern facility that offers our students the best opportunity to thrive. In the coming weeks, we will share more information. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to myself or any of the following people. We are happy to answer your questions. Thank you for your continued support.
