A Message from Superintendent Dr. James Everett
Dear families and staff,
This morning our school bus on route 3, which was transporting middle and high school students, was involved in an accident with another vehicle. It was a scary situation, but I am extremely thankful that our students and driver were not seriously injured. The safety of our students is always our highest priority.
Reflecting on the accident this morning, I want to extend gratitude to our first responders and local law enforcement who arrived on the scene quickly. I also want to thank our transportation staff who responded quickly and effectively to pick up different routes and drive our students to school. Thank you also to staff who reached out to communicate directly with families of students who were on the bus. School staff will be checking in later today with any students who were on the bus during the accident. I also want to acknowledge our students who I was told behaved admirably and helped keep the situation calm by following the lead of the bus driver.
While this is not a situation we ever want to experience, I am thankful for the response from our staff and first responders who put our students first and supported them through this.
Thank you,
James
