You are receiving this message to provide awareness about Irene Reither Elementary going into lockdown/shelter in place this afternoon after what was reported as a gunshot in close proximity to the school. Please see the message Principal Dawn Christiana sent out to her families just a short while ago.

Hello IRE Families,
I’m calling to let you know that your children will come home and have lots to talk about. Today staff heard what they thought was a gunshot and out of an abundance of caution all children and staff were brought back into the building for a lockdown and law enforcement was called to investigate. While waiting for law enforcement we shifted to a shelter in place continuing our learning and remaining inside. Law enforcement determined the area was safe and did not determine the source of the noise and declared it safe. They complimented our emergency procedures and I also hope you cheer your children on. They did a great job. Law enforcement remained on and near our campus to support the remainder of our day.
