Greetings Meridian Students and Families,

Every year the Meridian Transportation Department does a fantastic job of sponsoring and facilitating the annual Stuff the Bus campaign to collect food and monetary donations. They coordinate with all the buildings, help generate healthy competitions and reach out to our fantastic community for support. This year is no different. Led by Michele Apeles, KB Bilg, Bess Fairbanks, Kathy LaFreniere, Kim Bomar, Valerie Heinzen, and MaryAnn Giacoletti, over 5,198 pounds of food were collected and $1750 donated. I want to thank everyone for their contributions and the superb work of this team!

Last week we were pleased to have 20 people join us for our annual hall pass tour. Our group consisted of retired community members, new community members, families with future Meridian students and families with current Meridian students. If you have not participated in the tour before, we start by piling on to a bus and heading to Irene Reither Elementary – and then on to our remaining three buildings in the district. At each stop our principals share details about our programs, take the group around to different aspects of their building and answer questions. We end the tour at lunch time where we all came together in the high school library to eat lunch and conclude the tour with another question and answer session. I am proud of the work our buildings are doing to make learning a priority and connect with our students. Thank you to all who joined us last week for the tour! We are planning another tour later in the spring. We hope you will be able to join us!

I also want to recognize our principals for their hard work and sharing on the tour: Dawn Christiana (Thank you Adrienne Somera, IRE Assistant Principal and Teaching & Learning Director, for jumping in to lead the tour!), Jerry Sanderson, Meridian Middle School Principal, Michelle Siadal, Meridian Parent Partnership Program Principal, and Derek Forbes, Meridian High School Principal. I also want to recognize our principals as October is National Principals Month. Thank you, Mrs. Christiana, Mrs. Siadal, Mr. Sanderson, and Mr. Forbes!
