A Message from Superintendent Dr. James Everett

I am excited to share the work of our Equity and Access Committee with you. A committee comprised of staff, students and parents met monthly last year to discuss updating policy 3210 to include educational equity.

The committee spent time reviewing educational equity policies from school districts around the state as well as the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) equity policy. They identified and highlighted areas of policies that resonated with them and then connected these policies with language in our new strategic plan, Our Commitments. The result of their work is a policy that encourages everyone in our community to share the responsibility of providing an equitable education for all of our students.

The updated policy (viewable here) will be presented to the School Board on Oct. 18. I want to extend my gratitude to the committee members for their time and dedication to this important work.

Dr. James Everett
