All schools will remain closed tomorrow, Feb. 4, due to ongoing freezing temperatures, snow drifts and icy road conditions that remain unsafe.
We are committed to keeping you informed as quickly as possible. We understand that school closures and delays are challenging and disrupt family routines, and students benefit most from being in school. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate these weather conditions.
We do not make the decision to close schools lightly. It involves a significant team effort behind the scenes. Our staff are out driving in the early morning hours, assessing road conditions and reviewing the latest forecasts. We use this information to determine whether schools should be delayed or closed. Despite having all this information, it is still a difficult decision, but the safety of our students and staff remains our top priority.
We have been closely monitoring road conditions today. Many areas in our district have compacted ice on roadways and large snow drifts. With temperatures expected to remain below freezing, we are able to make the decision this evening to close school tomorrow, Feb. 4.
We want to extend a huge thank you to our maintenance and transportation teams, who were out early this morning and throughout the day evaluating conditions. They’ve also been hard at work clearing our parking lots in anticipation of our return to school. We are grateful for their commitment to ensuring the safety of our students and staff.
We know how important it is for students to be in school, where they can learn and thrive. Thank you for your understanding and patience. Stay safe, and we look forward to welcoming you back to school when conditions improve.
