Today, MSD staff gathered to dive into new strategies to boost student engagement in the classroom. We’re excited to see how these fresh approaches will help make learning even more dynamic and meaningful for our students. The Middle School staff also planned for the roll out of student weekly planners to support students’ executive functioning skills. Be on the lookout for a yellow folder with your students’ weekly planner inside. Although this is mostly a tool to help develop critical skills for students’ future success, it can also be a helpful communication tool for you to review to see what’s happening here at school.
We’re looking forward to honoring our community’s veterans with our upcoming Veterans Day assembly on November 8th! We invite service members to join us for this special event. Details, including an RSVP link, can be found later in this newsletter.

Stacy Wakefield teaches a wide variety of elective classes here at MMS. One of those classes is called Natural Resources. This class has recently been learning about layers of soil. Mrs. Wakefield did a beautiful job making learning relevant by connecting recent learning about soil layers with the current local event of the mudslide on I-5. She shared pictures with students of the event and the class discussed the layers of soil impacted by the event. The more we make learning relevant to students and the context they live in, the more they connect with and remember the learning. Thanks for the awesome connection, Mrs. Wakefield!
