The curriculum identification committee is recommending Adios Textbook by Creative Language Class as core materials for middle and high school Spanish. These materials build students’ Spanish language skills by engaging them in authentic language practice activities.
The committee identified the following strengths in the Adios Textbook materials:

Each unit has activities connected to the 5 C’s in the World Language Standards: Communication, Cultures, Connections, Comparisons, Communities.

Students learn Spanish by practicing speaking, writing and listening

The materials use authentic resources from Spanish speaking countries around the world

Variety of unit topics provide flexibility to address student interest and skills

Lessons include video, audio and visual resources

Students and teachers can track their progress in Spanish language development using proficiency rubrics that are part of the curriculum

Proficiency rubrics allow learning to be tailored to individual student needs

Many of the class materials can be shared digitally for students that need to use accessibility tools

Lessons have embedded advanced heritage speaker options for students

During a test of the materials, teachers observed a positive impact in students’ learning
