This is a continuation of our Meet Meridian series focusing on our students. Welcome to middle school!
Jaydelyn, sixth grader at Meridian Middle School
“Math has always been my favorite subject, but Mr. Clonts just makes science a lot of fun for me. In science right now we are learning about molecules and particles of chemical bonds. We use microscopes and are doing experiments. I’ve never been a huge fan of science but now I think I like science even more than math! It is my favorite this year.
In middle school, there are so many ways the teachers teach us things. Mr. Clark will teach us math like five different ways. Learning multiple ways helps me because I can find what way is easier for me. Something that makes the school day easier for me is lunchtime. I like seeing my friends and at lunch, Mr. Kratzig has a game every week and it’s really funny. The prize will be like a jolly rancher or a pencil. The staff here are a lot of fun because they always say hi in the hallway and ask about your day.
My little sister is in 5th grade so I talk to her a lot about what 6th grade will be like next year. I tell her that even though there are a lot more classes and things to keep track of it’s really fun because you have your own independence. I can work on things by myself, and I can be responsible for them when I get them done and feel good about them. I would describe Meridian Middle School as fun, and exciting, sometimes it can cause a little bit of anxiety because there’s so much happening but that’s also what makes it adventurous.”
Victor, eighth grader at Meridian Middle School
“The staff here they’re pretty encouraging. They try their best to make the school better. They’re really helpful to students. They make sure that the school is safe and kind. Overall, they’re doing pretty good things.
I know nearly every staff here I’ll say they care about me by talking to me, what they show and what they express to students. What makes me feel special is I get to take pictures for the yearbook and when I go to those classes they know me.
This school it’s pretty small, but it’s also pretty big. We’re trying to make things better here and we try our best to make the school safe as possible. We’re trying new things this year, to make it better for students at this wonderful school.
I’ve learned new things in middle school. I’ve grown up. I’ve gotten better at stuff and met new friends throughout the journey.”
