Thank you so much to everyone who attended our mid-year conferences last week. For those who didn’t attend, you should have received an email or call from your student’s Homeroom teacher providing you a brief update on how things are going. Even though conferences are over, we invite you to keep the dialogue open with your child’s teachers as we embark on the back half of the school year. There is still a lot of learning to come and your partnership with us on this journey is critical.
We’d also like to acknowledge that February is Black History Month. We encourage parents to engage in conversations with their children about the importance of Black History Month, fostering a spirit of understanding, unity, and respect. There are a lot of great resources available online that can help you and your family learn more about the contributions of Black Americans to our collective development as a nation.
As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

GENERAL MMS INFORMATION
We Want to Hear from You!
For us to continue to improve as a school district and as a school, it is important for us to understand how we are doing in providing a quality education for all students.
Please take a moment to complete this annual survey which helps us better understand areas we need to focus on in order to provide the best quality education for our students. This survey will also serve as data for us as we continue to work toward meeting our goals outlined in Our Commitments, our strategic plan. The survey asks how you feel about several topics including school communication, expectations for learning and engaging with teachers and administrators.
MMS will be hosting our 2nd dance of the year on March 1st from 6-8pm. If you are interested in chaperoning, please reach out to Mrs. Yeager as soon as possible. Chaperones will need to have a completed WATCH form on file for the district before the day of the dance.
MSD Ski Bus
If you’re interested in participating in this year’s Ski Bus to Mt. Baker, the deadline to sign up is this coming Wednesday, February 14. Questions? Contact Isabella Foos.
Yearbook Photos and 8th Grade Baby Pictures
Families and Students, if you have pictures from sporting events or other school related activities that you would like considered for the yearbook, please follow the instructions below to be considered for the yearbook. Calling all 8th graders! Keeping up with tradition, we need baby pictures of 8th graders for the yearbook. Please submit them digitally through yearbookforever.com or bring a physical copy with your students name on the back to the office.
To submit digitally, go to yearbookforever.com and enter Meridian Middle School, Lynden WA (make sure you select the correct one, not Idaho). Select Yearbook Snap and enter the code mms to upload your students baby picture!
All pictures are due no later than March 29th
Seeking Career Fair Presenters
Exciting news! Meridian Middle School will be hosting a Career Fair on February 23rd, where students will gain valuable insights into different professions. To put this on, we need your help! Parents and guardians, your expertise can shape students’ understanding of careers.
Interested? Please email Ashley Hoelzle (ahoelzle@meridian.wednet.edu) and let her know your interest and profession as soon as possible.
To ensure a smooth and successful Career Fair, participants are kindly requested to arrive at 8 am for setup on the day of the event. The Career Fair itself will take place from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Participants will be stationed at individual tables, where they will have the opportunity to engage with students and answer questions about their professions.
Thank you for supporting our students’ career exploration. Your involvement will inspire and guide them as they plan their future paths.
Did you know that your Nurse does much more than work with students who are sick? They are also able to connect families with community health services, develop accommodation and health plans, and help assess when a student needs to stay home. Reach out to your nursing team to learn more about how they can support your family!
COMMUNITY RESOURCES
Family Services Center
The Meridian School District Family Resource Center is open daily from 8:30 to 3:30 in portable 400A on the Irene Reither campus.
Students who qualify for free or reduced meals can stop by to get school supplies or sign up for Operation School Bell which provides new school clothes for students enrolled in Meridian School District. We also have the clothing closet available for any Meridian family looking for gently used adult and kid clothing.
Students who can’t make it in to the family center to get school supplies can pop into the middle school office to get the supplies they need.
