Dear MMS Families,

We have really appreciated the efforts of our students this week in completing their fall i-Ready diagnostic tests.  This information gives us a great baseline of how each student is performing so we can meet the individual needs of our learners.  In the coming weeks we’ll be kicking off our WIN (“What I Need”) program that will allow our teachers to provide intervention or extension to small groups of students based on their current levels.  We look forward to seeing the growth of all students this year!

Our fall sports season is also underway and we have enjoyed seeing so many families out cheering on their students at our games and meets.  If your student wishes to attend a sporting event as a spectator, it is required that they go home first and return with an adult to watch.  We appreciate the enthusiasm in supporting our student athletes!

As always, let us know if you have any questions or concerns!

GO TROJANS!

Dear families/guardians,

We hope this message finds you well. This week, our students worked diligently during their i-Ready tests, and we want to acknowledge their hard work and commitment to their education.

As we move forward, please remember that our school counseling team is here to support your child’s needs. If your child experienced any test-related stress or would like to learn test-taking strategies, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help them navigate this important aspect of their educational journey.

Thank you for your ongoing partnerships.

Sincerely,

MMS Counselors

Ordering School Pictures

Last Tuesday, September 19 was our MMS picture day!  All students had their picture taken for ID cards and school records.  Parents may purchase a picture package from our photographer.  Check out options online as to what packages are available.  Photo packages can also be ordered via phone at 1-800-993-4929.

MSD & WCLS Partnership

Meridian School District and Whatcom County Library System have a partnership called ConnectED which gives K – 12 students access to the best educational resources and learning materials in our libraries and on the Internet.

If you would like your child to access public library resources using his/her school ID, you do not need to do anything. Your child will automatically be enrolled. For additional information and to opt your student out of public library access using his or her school ID, please complete this form and turn it in to the MMS office by September 22.

Volunteers Needed!

In late October our nursing staff will be conducting vision and hearing screening for all 7th grade students.  In order to make this work, they will need a few volunteers.  If you’re interested, please reach out to Stacy King, district nurse.  You’ll need to have your WATCH form on file with the district, which you can pick up and submit in our main office.

Trojan Spirit Fridays

This year we’re encouraging all students and staff to consider every Friday a “Trojan Spirit Friday” – where everyone wears MMS gear, Trojan gear, or Trojan colors.  As the year goes on there may be prizes, but for now we want people to share in the pride we feel for the amazing community we have here at MMS!  Go Trojans!

GoGuardian Parent App

Meridian School District uses a tool called GoGuardian to keep students safe when they use their district-provided Chromebooks. To help families keep an eye on what their child does online, we offer a free GoGuardian Parent app. This app lets you control what websites your child can visit on their school Chromebook at home. You can decide which websites are allowed or not allowed. You can even pause the internet during out-of-school hours.
