Teen Heart Screen
PeaceHealth is offering free non-invasive heart screenings for teens 14 and older on Oct. 29 at Meridian High School. Students must be registered by Oct. 22 to participate.

Even teens who seem perfectly healthy may have hidden heart problems. Although the percentage is small, kids with undetected heart defects are at risk of sudden cardiac arrest which can happen without warning and can result in death. For people under 35, it is often due to hidden heart defects or undetected heart abnormalities. If a defect or abnormality can be identified early, it can be monitored throughout a person’s lifetime.

What is included in the non-Invasive heart screening?
• Review of teen’s heart health questionnaire including personal and family health history.
• Blood pressure, height, weight and body mass index measurements.
• An electrocardiogram (EKG).
• Chest-compression CPR and AED defibrillator training.
• On-site physician review of test results.
• Echocardiogram (if directed by physician).
To participate in a free screening, a parent or legal guardian must complete and sign the Heart Health Survey on behalf of their teen or youth (under age 18). Completed surveys must be received by Oct. 22. Appointments will then be scheduled for students on Tuesday, Oct. 29 during or after the school day. Click here to register your student!
