Hello MHS Community,
Welcome back! I hope everyone enjoyed a restful Spring Break. As we return to school, I am recognizing that we only have 10 weeks left in the 2023-24 school year. It’s time to buckle down and finish strong!
These final weeks offer valuable opportunities for our students to reflect on their progress, set new goals, and push themselves academically and personally. It’s a chance for them to capitalize on the knowledge and skills they’ve gained throughout the year and to finish with a sense of accomplishment.
Thank you for your continued support Meridian High School! Here’s to a successful and fulfilling end to the 2023-24 school year!
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 360.398.8111. If you need translation support, please contact our cultural liaison, Elvira Trautman at 360.306.2886.
Sincerely,
MHS Office Team

State Assessments Begin Soon
Spring state assessments in English language arts (ELA) and math will begin in April for our 10th grade students and any 11th or 12th grade students who have not met their graduation pathway. English language arts (ELA) and math are measured with Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA). 11th grade students will also take a state assessment in science, which is measured with the Washington Comprehensive Assessment of Science (WCAS).
The results from the state assessments will help us improve instructional practices and give families information about how their student is doing and where additional help might be needed. The assessments also give us a more accurate picture of whether students are on track to be ready for college or career by graduation.
The bell schedule will be adjusted for testing to take place each morning. Testing will take place on April 16th, 17th, 23rd, 24th and 25th. More information about testing, including a bell schedule for the dates listed, will be available after spring break.

Fall 2024 Running Start
Students who are planning to attend Running Start next year should apply to the college of their choice by the beginning of April. Students will be registering for classes for the fall in May. Before mid April they should have scheduled a meeting with their counselor to complete the verification form process so they can register when the window opens in May. Verification forms are signed by appointment only. Your counselor will be going over your HSBP so be sure to have it up to date. |
