Dear Meridian High School Families,

I hope the start of the second semester is going well for everyone!  Two exciting things to share this week:

Parent-Teacher Conferences:
This week, from Tuesday to Thursday, we will be operating on a shortened schedule due to parent-teacher conferences. While some families have been invited to targeted conferences, we want to extend an invitation to all families to attend the arena conferences on Tuesday night. This is a valuable opportunity to connect with teachers, discuss your student’s progress, and address any questions or concerns you may have. Your active participation in your student’s education is greatly appreciated.

National School Counseling Week:
In recognition of National School Counseling Week, I want to express our deep gratitude and appreciation for our incredible counselors, Cheryl McBride and Don McMains. Their dedication and tireless efforts in supporting our students contribute significantly to the positive and nurturing environment at Meridian High School. We are truly fortunate to have such skilled and caring professionals on the MHS team.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to seeing many of you at the parent-teacher conferences and the arena conferences on Tuesday night.  If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 360.398.8111. If you need translation support, please contact our cultural liaison, Elvira Trautman at 360.306.2886.

Sincerely,
MHS Office Team

Spring Conferences This Week

Conferences take place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday of this week.
As a result, we will end our school day at 12:10 on those three days.  Please review the bell schedule in this newsletter for the start and end times of each class.
In addition to the conferences scheduled with specific families, we will also have teachers available in our south gym during arena conferences on Tuesday evening from 5:45 pm to 7:45 pm.  They will be there to talk about your student’s progress in class or to learn more about what to expect in a class this semester.
In addition to our conferences, we welcome any parents/guardians who would like to participate in a focus group.  Our assistant principal, Mr. Doffing, will be leading this process from 6:00 to 6:30 in a classroom within steps of our south gym.
If you have more questions about the conferences or the focus group, please contact Mr. Forbes either by email at dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu or call 360-398-8111.
Families – CEE Survey

We want to hear from you!

For us to continue to improve as a school district and as a school, it is important for us to understand how we are doing in providing a quality education for all students.

Please take a moment to complete this annual survey which helps us better understand areas we need to focus on in order to provide the best quality education for our students. This survey will also serve as data for us as we continue to work toward meeting our goals outlined in Our Commitments, our strategic plan. The survey asks how you feel about several topics including school communication, expectations for learning, and engaging with teachers and administrators.

Please complete this survey by March 8.

National Umbrella Day, February 10th

From the classic to automatic, and from collapsible to comical, there are dozens of types of umbrellas for countless types of scenarios. From ancient Rome, to China, and to Greece, umbrellas can be spotted in the artwork of many early civilizations. It’s one of the many examples of a tool that was invented multiple times, in multiple places, as the need for it was so universal. The umbrella has been a part of many cultures since ancient times, umbrellas have a storied history worth commemorating. So on February 10, we celebrate National Umbrella Day!
