Hello Meridian High School students!

I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving break and enjoyed some well-deserved rest. As we return to school for this short three-week stretch before Winter Break, let’s harness the energy and motivation to make the most out of these 15 school days.

This is a golden opportunity to challenge ourselves, set new goals, and strive for excellence in our academics, extracurricular activities, and personal development. Whether it’s making extra time to prepare for that upcoming exam, completing a project, or taking steps towards achieving your personal goals, let’s approach these next few weeks with determination and focus.

Remember, the effort you put in now will not only contribute to your individual success but also to the positive community we have here at Meridian High School. Let’s support each other, share our knowledge, and work together to make these three weeks productive and fulfilling.

Winter Break will be here before we know it, and when it arrives, let’s be able to look back with pride at what we’ve accomplished. Stay focused, stay positive, and let’s make these next 15 days count!

You’ve got this, Meridian High School!

Sincerely,
MHS Office Team

Winter Wishes

Winter Wishes gives everyone who is a part of the Meridian High School family a chance to make a wish for someone else. Every year for the last 10 years, the leadership class has raised money to grant the wishes that students and staff make for other students in our school. It is a unique and special opportunity for all of us to think of others when we wish. Because of the thoughtful wishing of students in our school combined with the efforts of our leadership students, Winter Wishes has provided gifts for hundreds of our students every year.

Here is the link if you would like to make a donation to Winter Wishes:

Winter Weather Information

As the season changes and the weather turns colder, it is a good time to take a moment to review our winter weather procedures. Depending on conditions (which could include snow, flooding, power outages, etc.), schools could close for the day, open two hours late with regular bus routes or snow bus routes or open on time with snow bus routes. Please familiarize yourself with the information below to be prepared for changes in the school schedule.

How will I be notified of school closures or delays?

A message will automatically come to you if you are a parent/guardian or staff member. You can update your contact information in Skyward Family Access or by calling your school office. Alerts are sent through ParentSquare. ParentSquare uses your contact information from Skyward. You do not need to activate your account in ParentSquare to receive alerts.

Where can I find weather or emergency information?

Meridian School District uses a variety of methods to keep you informed:

  • An email, text, app notification and/or phone call will automatically be sent to you via ParentSquare.
  • Tune to local media: 790 AM, 96.5 FM, 104.1 FM or Seattle media.
  • Check  www.meridian.wednet.edu
  • Check @meridianschooldistrict505 on Facebook or Instagram

The district will continue to use FlashAlert Newswire to notify local TV and radio media of school closures or delays.

What are snow routes?

A snow bus route (or snow route) is a modified route that is used when road conditions are impacted by weather and driving a school bus in some areas may not be advised. Transportation will make individual arrangements for students who receive specialized transportation which do not follow the snow routes.

If snow routes are in effect, students must catch their bus at the alternate stops below:

  • Route 1: Van Wyck Road, Guide Meridian side: Meet at Ryzex Way, on W. Horton Rd.
  • Route 4: E. Horton Road: Meet at Ryzex Way, on W. Horton Rd.
  • Route 9: Zander Road: Meet at E. Smith Rd.

Where can I find more information?

Visit our Weather Notifications webpage for more information about inclement weather and delays.

National Eat A Red Apple Day, December 1st

Since 6500 B.C., humans have been enjoying this sweet and delicious self-contained snack. Each autumn, when this fruit is harvested, it is found in our local grocery stores and at community. Whether we’re bobbing for them, baking them into a pie, or stashing one into our bag for a pick-me-up later on, we just can’t get enough of the red apple.
