Dear Meridian High School Community:
We are thankful for you!
As we prepare to take this Thursday and Friday from school for the Thanksgiving break, we are grateful for everyone who has helped to restore a routine for showing up to school while supporting students and families.
Daily routines are essential for reducing stress and creating a sense of security for students and adults.
Families, please take steps to keep your student healthy and send them to school unless they are truly sick. Every day of school is an important opportunity for students to learn as well as connect to peers and their educators.
We thank:
· Our students and their families who do their best to show up to class every day even when it isn’t easy.
· Our educators who have gone above and beyond to help make school a welcoming learning environment where students can thrive.
· Our school community who work together to ensure a sense of community and experience the excitement of an engaging learning environment.
We hope these days off will be a great time to rest and reflect!
● If your family or your student needs support, or if you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to us at 360.398.8111. And if you need translation support, please contact our cultural liaison, Elvira Trautman at 360.306.2886.
● We look forward to seeing you again when school resumes on Monday, November 27th.
Sincerely,
MHS Office Team

Cold Weather Reminder
During cold winter weather, our custodians and maintenance staff are out early each morning removing snow as needed and applying ice melt to the high traffic pedestrian areas. The areas of emphasis are sidewalks and walkways, crosswalks, bus loops, and handicap parking. It is not our practice to apply ice melt to the general parking areas, but snow will be removed in these areas as we are able to. To insure your safety during cold weather please be mindful of the conditions and use extra caution when walking outside, and plan your footwear accordingly. |

Thanksgiving, November 23rd
America’s Thanksgiving holiday, born in the 1500s, mythologized in 1621, and observed even during the bleakest hours of the Civil War, now stands as one of the nation’s most anticipated and beloved days — celebrated each year on the fourth Thursday in November (November 25, 2021). Perhaps no other nonsectarian holiday has more tradition. Family, friends, food, and football have come to symbolize Thanksgiving — a rare celebratory holiday without an established gift-giving component. Instead, the day urges all of us to be grateful for things we do have. |
