Dear Meridian High School Community,
At MHS, we’re committed to providing the best education possible to our students, and this commitment extends to the professional development of our incredible team.
On Friday, October 20th, staff at MHS participated in the first of three waiver days that will take place throughout the school year. The focal point of our professional development day was Universal Design for Learning (UDL). UDL is an educational framework that emphasizes inclusivity, ensuring that all students, regardless of their individual abilities, backgrounds, or learning styles, have equal opportunities to excel.
The concept of UDL isn’t just about applying a one-size-fits-all solution. We work to identify barriers that stand in the way of student success and find ways to remove or overcome those barriers. By embracing UDL, we aim to create a learning environment that is more accessible, engaging, and supportive for all our students.
Another highlight of our professional development day was the collaboration within our Professional Learning Communities (PLCs). These small groups of teachers, each focused on a specific subject, provide a platform for educators to share their knowledge, discuss best practices, and collaborate on new ideas.
Our PLCs have played a pivotal role in our continued commitment to enhancing student learning. Teachers working together within these communities can refine their instructional strategies, assess student progress, and develop innovative ways to engage, support, and challenge our students.
Overall, it was a great day of collaboration and learning!
