Dear Meridian High School Community,

With the onset of cold and flu season, I want to emphasize the importance of prioritizing our health and well-being. The well-being of our students and staff remains our top priority, and I would like to share a few pieces of information with you:

1. Staying Home When Feeling Ill: It’s crucial for both students and staff to stay home if they are feeling unwell. If you experience symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, or other flu-like symptoms, please do not hesitate to take a sick day. This not only helps protect your health but also ensures the well-being of others within our school community.

2. Academic Continuity: To our dedicated students, we understand that your education is important. In case you need to stay home due to illness or quarantine, please continue to check your Google Classrooms regularly and reach out to your teachers as needed. Our teachers are committed to supporting your academic progress, and they are ready to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

3. Staying Informed: It’s essential to stay informed about any developments related to health and safety within our school. Please keep an eye on our official communication channels for the latest updates.

Your health and well-being are paramount, and we appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the safety of our school community.  Remember, by taking care of your health and following recommended safety measures, we can keep our school community safe and continue to thrive academically.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to the school office at 360-398-8111.  If you need translation support, please contact our cultural liaison, Elvira Trautman at 360-306-2886.

Stay safe!

PSAT/NMSQT  – TESTING FOR GRADE 11

Meridian High School will again be providing an opportunity for all juniors to take the PSAT/NMSQT test this October. There will be no cost involved for all juniors at Meridian.  We plan to order tests for every grade 11 student.  If you would like to opt out your student, please send Don McMains a short email stating that your son/daughter would prefer not to test.  This will allow us to place a correct order number and will save us important funds that can then be used otherwise.  Please send this Opt Out email to dmcmains@meridian.wednet.edu by Monday Sept. 18.
If you have a Sophomore who is interested in taking the test, there will be a $20.00 fee that can be paid to Mrs. Gookstetter in the office.  Sophomores will have an opportunity to take this test free of charge at the beginning of  next school year.

National Coffee Day, September 29th

Coffee makes us feel good first thing in the morning and it makes use of all our senses.  We love that deep brown or black color because the richer the color, the more flavorful the brew.  Grinding the beans and inhaling the earthly smell of the grounds as we brew is all part of our daily ritual.  At the end,  you’re rewarded with the sensuous taste of a good, strong cup of joe to get you going the rest of the day!
