To provide more structure and help support students in their new learning, MHS will provide two new components of remote learning beginning May 4th and continuing through June 19th.
The first will be established class periods where students can interact with their classmates and teacher. Two classes will be offered on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
On Tuesday – 1st period (1 pm) and 2nd period (2 pm) / On Wednesday – 3rd period (1 pm) and 4th period (2 pm) / On Thursday – 5th period (1 pm) and 6th period (2 pm)
The format will not include any new teaching but teachers are prepared to answer questions about the work provided. It may look similar to a closed T3 session where the teacher offered specific support based on a particular class or topic.
The second will be set office hours. Students will be able to connect with their teacher, ask questions, or get help on work that was assigned. This format may look similar to an open T3 session as students from various classes might interact during that same time.
Questions do come up at times other than the class period and office hours. Teachers will continue to answer those questions through google classroom, email, and/or phone calls. These structured times, however, allow you to schedule your time to get more immediate support and may help organize when you do work for each of your classes.
In addition to responding to students, MHS teaching staff will be planning and preparing learning plans, collaborating with other staff, assessing student work, communicating with families, attending building staff meetings, and engaging in professional development.
As a reminder, all students are expected to be engaged in their learning and interacting with their teacher in order to earn credit for their class. More information about the grading process for spring 2020 can be found at Spring2020CommunityLetter-Grading.
Stay Connected. Stay Engaged. Communicate. While the building is closed, learning continues.
