With the last newsletter of the school year, I wanted to take a moment to thank our Meridian community for nine amazing years as the MHS Principal. As both the MHS Principal and a parent of two Meridian High School graduates, I am grateful for the community and staff who have supported our school and the students who attend here. I have watched our staff come alongside and care for students, providing them a place to learn and grow in preparation for their future. I have been encouraged by the way our students treat one another and take on a variety of challenges and become stronger for it.
MHS will always be very special to me and my family. I feel privileged to have been part of the work done here and of the relationships I built while doing that work. I look forward to hearing about the great things that take place at Meridian and the accomplishments of its graduates as they positively impact our changing world.
While this newsletter is wrapping up this year, it includes several pieces of information to help prepare for a successful start to next year. Please use it to help make your plans for August and the start of the 2024-2025 school year.
Thank you for welcoming me into your community. It has been an honor to be part of something so special.
With much gratitude
– Derek Forbes
