Hello Meridian High School Community,

March 11th to March 15th is Education Support Professionals Week and it is with great pride and gratitude that we recognize the diverse and essential contributions of the individuals who form the backbone of our educational community.

This week, we celebrate our secretaries, our paraeducators, custodial and maintenance staff, bus drivers, food service workers, family and health services staff, tech support, and librarian—each playing a unique role in ensuring the success and well-being of our students.

Our secretaries are the heart of our school, the first point of contact for students, families, and staff alike. Their warmth and efficiency keep our administrative processes running smoothly and create a welcoming atmosphere for those who enter our school.  Paraeducators are invaluable members of our educational team, providing essential support to students and teachers. Their dedication and compassion help ensure that every student receives the individualized attention they need to thrive.  Our custodial and maintenance staff work tirelessly behind the scenes to maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable learning environment for our students and staff.  Bus drivers play a crucial role in ensuring that our students arrive safely to and from school each day. Their commitment to safety and reliability is deeply appreciated by our entire community.

Our food service workers provide nutritious meals and a warm smile to our students each day. Their dedication to promoting health and well-being is truly commendable.  Family and health services staff provide invaluable support to our students and their families, addressing a wide range of needs and ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed.  Tech support keeps our school connected and our systems running smoothly, ensuring that students and staff have access to the resources they need to excel in today’s digital world.  Our librarian fosters a love of reading and learning and provides invaluable support to students and staff.

During Education Support Professionals Week, please take a moment to express your gratitude to these dedicated individuals who support our students, staff, and school community.

To all our Education Support Professionals at Meridian High School, thank you for your commitment and tireless efforts in shaping the future of our students. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and we are grateful for all that you do!

Washington Public 4 Year Institutions Decision Day extended to June 1, 2024

From the Director of Communications and Operations | Council of Presidents

“In light of the changes surrounding the FAFSA/WAFSA processes, each of Washington’s public four-year institutions has extended the College Decision Day to June 1, 2024. This extension is in place to provide students and families with sufficient time to navigate the FAFSA/WAFSA process and make well-informed decisions regarding their higher education pathways.

Our commitment to prospective and current students remains unwavering, and during this period of change, we are actively engaging with students by providing them with the necessary information and support. We are closely monitoring the situation and are prepared to make additional adjustments based on updates from the U.S. Department of Education.

For specific information and updates on the FAFSA/WAFSA processes from our member institutions, please visit their respective pages:

Eastern Washington University

The Evergreen State College

We believe that it is crucial for prospective students and their families to have access to this information, and we kindly request your support in sharing this update through your channels. Your continued partnership and support in these efforts are greatly appreciated.”

National Napping Day

National Napping Day, March 13th, was created in 1999 by a Boston University professor and his wife. William Anthony Ph.D. and his wife Camille Anthony created this holiday to spread awareness on the importance of getting enough sleep and its benefits. The holiday was meant to help make up for the amount of sleep lost when the hour changes. The date was chosen because studies have shown that people are already at their most tired and sleep deprived after daylight savings changes. The change of the hour really makes a difference, but National Napping Day can make you feel like there was no change at all.
