A Message from Superintendent Dr. James Everett
As you know, Principal Derek Forbes announced that he will be resigning at the end of the school year, and we wish him all the best on his future endeavors.
Earlier this week, we held interviews for our new Meridian High School principal. The comprehensive interview process included a formal interview, student interviews, student-led campus tour, interview with district leadership, a presentation and a community forum.
I am excited to announce that we have offered the Meridian High School principal position to Shaun Doffing and he has accepted. He will begin his new role July 1.
Mr. Doffing has been the assistant principal of Meridian High School since February 2022. From 2016-2022, Mr. Doffing was the program manager for Skagit STEM Network where he managed and developed a variety of Career Connected Learning experiences for students and educators. Prior to that role, he taught business and AVID classes at Sedro-Woolley High School for 12 years.
Mr. Doffing received his administrator credentials from Western Washington University in 2021. He has a master’s of education degree in engagement and assessment from Walden University, and a bachelor’s degree in business education from Central Washington University.
Mr. Doffing cares deeply about fostering a sense of belonging for our students, enhancing communication at all levels and providing support for all students. His support and leadership of the Ninth Grade Success Team is just one example of his effective leadership. Mr. Doffing is committed to creating a culture of innovation and improving upon the success of Meridian High School. We look forward to seeing how Meridian High School thrives under his leadership.
Please join me in congratulating Mr. Doffing!
