Hello Meridian High School Community:
Last week was such a challenge with the weather! We hope everyone was able to stay safe and warm and we look forward to seeing everyone back next week to finish up the semester strong.
The last day of the first semester will still be Thursday, January 25th with no school on January 26th to give time to get ready for the transition to second semester. We will also be maintaining our regular schedule for next week with Homeroom on Monday and T3’s scheduled for Tuesday – Thursday.
One other note, I want to highlight the work that our Maintenance Department and Custodial Team did last week to keep our buildings in order. There were a number of complications and those teams worked tirelessly to keep our school ready for our students, staff, and community to come back to school as soon as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us at 360.398.8111. If you need translation support, please contact our cultural liaison, Elvira Trautman at 360.306.2886.
Again, we hope you’re staying safe and warm and we look forward to seeing you soon!
Sincerely,
MHS Office Team

Class Changes
With the semester ending on Thursday, January 25th, students may be looking at their schedules and wanting to make a change. Class change forms will be available in the office, at Mrs. Blankenship’s desk, beginning Monday, January 29th. Students need to complete a class change form and turn it into the basket provided on the counter. Counselors will assess the student’s requests compared to graduation requirements still outstanding and decide if a change is possible.
Acceptable Reasons For A Class Change:
- Elective for elective in the same period.
- Placed in the wrong level of a class.
- Previously taken the class.
To find out if their class change is approved, students can check the alpha file, on Mrs. Blankenship’s counter later in the day.
The last day to request a class change is January 31st, 2024 at end of day.

Spring Semester Conferences
Meridian High School will have their spring semester conferences take place on February 6th, 7th and 8th. Spring semester conferences follow a different format than the conferences that took place in September. In February, students are selected to attend a conference with some of their current teachers based on their current academic progress. This will include but is not limited to, seniors not on track to graduate and students who failed multiple classes during the fall semester of this school. These conferences will take place over all three days.
Parents/guardians will be able to meet with any of their student’s teachers during arena conferences on the evening of February 6th.

National Pie Day, January 23rd
Sponsored by the American Pie Council, National Pie Day lets us enjoy one of our favorite desserts guilt-free. After all, we’re celebrating a national holiday! While pie exists in some form all over the world, the United States has an inextricable relationship with the flaky dessert. From the song “American Pie” to expressions like “as American as apple pie,” the United States embraces the pie, apple in particular, as a symbol of national pride.
So preheat your oven or visit your local bakery, grab a slice, and celebrate the simple, delicious pleasures of good pie.
