Dear Meridian High School Community,

As we approach the final stretch of 2023, we’re thrilled to share the exciting events that will mark the last week of school before the winter break. It’s a time of celebration, camaraderie, and giving back to our school, district, and community.

Winter Band and Choir Concert: Wednesday, 7:00 PM

Our talented band and choir members will be performing on the MHS Auditorium stage on Wednesday night at 7:00 pm for their Winter Concert. Come join us for a musical evening as our students showcase their hard work and dedication!

Give Before You Get: Thursday

Thursday marks the commencement of our annual “Give Before You Get” event. This initiative embodies the spirit of service and community engagement. Students are encouraged to sign up for various activities, demonstrating their commitment to serving our school, district, and community. It’s a wonderful opportunity for our students to make a positive impact and strengthen the bonds within our Meridian community.

Winter Wishes Assembly: Friday

On Friday, we’ll have our Winter Wishes Assembly. Our students have been busy making thoughtful wishes for their fellow classmates throughout the school. The assembly will be a fantastic occasion as we come together to fulfill these wishes and spread the warmth of the season. It’s a beautiful reminder of the generosity and compassion that defines our Meridian High School community.

As we wrap up this semester and head into the winter break, let’s celebrate the achievements of our students, the dedication of our educators, and the sense of community that makes Meridian High School truly special.

Wishing you all a festive and joyful holiday season!

Sincerely,

The MHS Office Team

Winter Wishes

Last Day to Donate for Winter Wishes is Tuesday, Dec. 12th

Winter Wishes gives everyone who is a part of the Meridian High School family a chance to make a wish for someone else. Every year for the last 10 years, the leadership class has raised money to grant the wishes that students and staff make for other students in our school. It is a unique and special opportunity for all of us to think of others when we wish. Because of the thoughtful wishing of students in our school combined with the efforts of our leadership students, Winter Wishes has provided gifts for hundreds of our students every year.

Winter Break

Tis the season of peace, joy, and love. For many this that may be a time of celebration but there is also a lot of stress associated with any holiday. Not all students celebrate a religious or cultural tradition at this time of year. For those that don’t they may feel left out or isolated when they see classmates coming together around holiday traditions.

Holidays can also be especially difficult for individuals suffering from anxiety, depression, and/or eating disorders. Financial problems and family pressure can also be concerns. Imagine too those suffering with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and trying to sit through long performances or services. A break from school often means no routine, irregular sleep schedules, change of diet, crowded places and being around rarely seen relatives.

While we could all use a break and some rejuvenation, please take care of yourselves during this time and try not to have unrealistic expectations. Be cognizant of how you are feeling and what it is you need. Practice mindfulness and relax. School will be back in session before you know it.

National Cocoa Day, December 13th

National Cocoa Day is celebrated on December 13 every year. Hot cocoa is typically made with cocoa powder, heated milk or water, and sugar. However, some also call it hot chocolate, which causes a bit of confusion. Hot chocolate is made by using ground chocolate containing cocoa butter. It is a relatively healthy drink with very little fat and calories, depending on what you add to it.
