This site will contain information about the five-day-a-week schedule at Meridian High School beginning on April 19th.  If you don’t see an answer to your question, please contact our Assistant Principal, Mr. Andy Donahue (adonahue@meridian.wednet.edu) or Principal, Mr. Derek Forbes (dforbes@meridian.wednet.edu) or call the main office at 360-398-8111.

What will the schedule be when students come to school five days a week?

Students will attend five days a week beginning Monday, April 19th. Students will attend school from 7:55 am – 12:40 pm.

Are there any changes to bus routes?

There are a lot of time changes that were made to the routes, and three additional routes were added. To see if your student has a change, log into Skyward and click the bus tab to see if there are any changes.

What happens when we get to school?

Students will still go through a screening process that they have done since we started second semester.  Students taking the bus will be screened in the auditorium, while students getting dropped off or driving will be screened in the same location as they currently before heading to their first-period class.

Will students still get breakfast and lunch?

Students will be able to pick up breakfast after screening. They will need to eat it either in the Commons or go outside, keeping a six-foot distance from other students.
Students will continue to receive lunch as they leave the school since doing so at school is difficult to attain with the full population needing to be at six-foot for meals required by the guidance for secondary students.

Do I still need to fill out a Remote Attendance Learning Form (RALF)?

Since students are attending five days a week, there will no longer be a need to fill out the RALF.  If we have to return to hybrid we will need to ask students to fill out the RALF again.

Remote students will still need to fill out a RALF but there will be a new form that only requires it to be filled out once for all three classes of the day.

Can you explain what T3 will look like?

T3 stands for Trojan Tutorial Time.  It provides a set time in the school for students to get support on the work being assigned in their current classes.  Students will either choose to attend a session in a classroom of their 1/3/5 period teacher or their teacher will assign the student to go to the teacher’s room for a specific reason (reteaching a topic, make-up assignment(s), complete a lab).  Teachers will post what the focus of their classroom will be for T3 each day of the week.  That document (the T3 Week At A Glance) will be posted by Monday and available for students to make their plan for the week.

Students who have maintained at least a B- in all of their current classes will also be given a T3 card that allows them to go to the Commons (provided a teacher hasn’t assigned the student to the classroom).

When T3 begins, students will go to a classroom (either by choice or assigned by teacher) or the Commons (if they have a T3 card).  Students will sign in and all other COVID protocols will be followed just like the students were in class.

Can you share more about Student Support?

The targeted support for students taking place during our hybrid schedule will be shifted to after school. Identified students will stay on campus until 2:30 for two days a week. “A” Cohort will stay on Mondays and Tuesdays. “B” Cohort will stay on Wednesdays and Thursdays. There will be a bus to take you home on those days.

Students who are staying on campus will eat lunch either in the Commons, in the office hallway lounge or outside, maintaining a six-foot social distance required by the guidance for secondary students.
