In Meridian, we believe in the power of support. Our developmental preschool program exemplifies this through their dedication to nurturing success in every student by working in partnership with staff and families.

The program focuses on play-based learning, social communication, and motor skills, and integrating the expertise of specialists such as speech language pathologists, occupational therapists and physical therapists. Special Education Preschool Teacher Melissa Whitten plays a crucial role in this process. She works closely with teachers, providing guidance on how to address individual goals, conducting observations and offering progress monitoring for students. Ms. Whitten also collaborates with community service providers, ensuring that each child’s unique needs are met through tailored support and regular evaluations. This holistic approach ensures that each child’s needs are met, preparing them for a successful transition to kindergarten.

Students are also supported by our incredible team of paraeducators who work alongside Ms. Whitten. Their dedication and hard work are essential in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for our youngest learners.

By providing a strong support system, students build confidence, develop essential skills and foster a love for learning. This early support ensures that every child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, setting them up for success.
