Principal’s Message
IRE Families,
Thank you for joining us at TK-2nd Grade Math Night! We loved seeing families explore math together and have fun with numbers. Supporting math at home through everyday activities—like cooking, shopping, and measuring—helps build strong math skills in a natural and engaging way. Your support with this has contributed to one of the best years in math achievement that we’ve had as an IRE community. Thank you!
Also, we encourage all families to complete the Free & Reduced Lunch Application. It’s quick to fill out and provides important benefits beyond meals, as outlined in the announcement below.
We appreciate your support and partnership in your child’s learning!
Best,
Tyler Dockins, Principal

What IS Girls on the Run?
The first thing you should know is that GOTR is NOT simply a running program – in fact, participants are not required to run at all, just MOVE at their own pace! The curriculum is developed by educators and designed to build strong youth in body, mind and spirit through active lessons and physical movement. Whether kids are walking, running, hopping or skipping, they are doing it with a purpose – learning about self-talk, how to stand up for themselves and others, communicate their frustrations in a healthy way – all in a safe environment led by trained coaches who are also awesome role models. And for the Grand Finale of the 8-week season, ALL of the teams from Whatcom and Skagit Counties come together to complete a 5K and celebrate, building confidence through accomplishment.
It is important to us at the YMCA that ALL have the chance to participate regardless of their family’s financial background, we offer the program on a Sliding Scale Fee Structure so that no girl is turned away due to inability to pay – no questions asked.
Here is a video with more information on the program and what it can do for the kids!
