IRE Families,
This weekend I was finalizing this newsletter, watching this video and my kids immediately rushed to my desk at home to look over my shoulder. Any time there is a video of a kid speaking or sharing information, they gravitate it like it is a magnet. May be worth a watch with your family. We had a good conversation about my own phone habits, checking email, responding to others, etc.
Who knew that a game of peek-a-boo could change the world?
Thank you to Ms. Wasley in Kindergarten for sharing this resource. It sparked a conversation in our own household about connecting, talking and playing.
Best,
Tyler Dockins, Principal

It’s IRE’s annual PTA fundraiser! With your support, the PTA is able to fund field trips, skate nights, teacher requests and so much more.
Participate with fun costumes that week and then jog-a–thon on Friday, Oct. 11th. Look for your kid’s folder soon for information about donating, prizes, and volunteering.
Or go ahead and dive right in going to our secure donation site to log your little jogger.
Go Trojans!

We’re excited to invite you to our first Family Math Nights of the year! This will be for families of Grades 3-5 on Tuesday, October 8th, entering through the main entrance of Building B (the old Ten Mile Building). Our vision is that families are walking to their child’s classroom, with their child, to celebrate their math work that they have done so far this year.
This event will take place from 4:00 PM to 4:50 PM.
We look forward to seeing you there!

On Nov. 5, our community will vote on a facilities bond that includes much-needed facilities projects related to safety and accessibility.
This short video featuring Meridian Middle School Principal Todd Torgeson, explains in greater detail the bond projects.
The bond includes constructing a new Meridian Middle School to address rising maintenance costs, safety concerns and lack of accessibility of the current school, originally built in 1938. Meridian Middle School has non-reinforced concrete walls that don’t meet seismic codes, unconnected buildings with outdoor entries making security difficult. The school also lacks accessible restrooms and entries.
For Meridian High School, relocating the music room to the old cafeteria will improve student safety. Auditorium repairs, including a new roof, will prevent leaks and maintain it as a community resource. A new generator will ensure emergency power and heat during outages. Replacing lighting and repairing the stadium will enhance the safety and usability of athletic facilities.
