Principal’s Message

Welcome back to another incredible school year! The excitement is in the air, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to start this journey with all of you. It’s time to open our doors to new beginnings, friendships, and limitless possibilities.

What makes Meridian special is our tight-knit community, united by big dreams and aspirations for all of our kids. The start of the school year is a time for us to come together, support one another, and rekindle our relationships. To ease those first-day jitters, we’re opening our school doors for an Open House on Wednesday, August 28th, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Families with last names starting with A-L are invited from 4:30 to 5:00 p.m., and families with last names starting with M-Z are welcome from 5:00 to 5:30 p.m.

Our teams have been hard at work, reviewing feedback from families, analyzing student achievement data, and listening to our students’ ideas to design an exceptional year. We’re excited to build on last year’s tremendous growth in literacy and attendance by focusing on mathematics, clarifying our intervention systems, and uplifting student voices.

This year, our theme is “Becoming Masters of Our Craft.” Our goal is to deepen our family partnership in learning mathematics, both at school and at home. School and family partnerships are at the heart of our kids’ success in mathematics. We encourage you to read our newsletters and engage in conversations with your students about how math helps us understand the world. A strong foundation in elementary mathematics is crucial for the careers our kids will pursue after high school. Beyond math, we want our students to learn how to productively struggle, think flexibly, share their reasoning, and critique the reasoning of others. Join us on this journey—volunteer, observe, and let’s work together to ensure that every student in our school is known, loved, and valued.

Class lists will be uploaded to Skyward after 4pm on Friday, August 23. You may log into Skyward after that time and see who your student’s teacher will be for this school year.

Student information will be uploaded in SDM by Monday, August 26. Please log into SDM at your earliest convenience and update your student’s information.

Teachers will be reaching out soon via ParentSquare to set up conferences. This is an important meeting for parents and teachers. Please make sure to schedule your conference as soon as possible.

Did you know you can subscribe to IRE’s school calendar through ParentSquare? It is quick, easy and will keep you informed of all the happenings at IRE.
1. Sign in to ParentSquare
2. On the right, you will see the events calendar, click view all
3. On the top right of the calendar, click on the Subscribe button
4. A window will pop up and ask if you want to merge school events to your personal calendar. Click “Yes, I’m positive.”
5. Follow your computer’s default calendar application instructions to add the calendar to your personal calendar.
