Principal Message
IRE Family,
As we approach Spring Break, I want to share my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you. Your dedication, hard work, and commitment to our school community have made this academic year truly remarkable.
We are thrilled to see the excitement and enthusiasm among our students as we prepare for a well-deserved break. While this is a time to recharge and reconnect with loved ones, I am equally eager to return to school on Monday, April 8th. There is an undeniable energy and spirit that fills our halls when students are back – we love to see our students run to school.
Thank you for diligence in coming to school each day. Every day counts. I am incredibly proud to share that our efforts have shown significant progress, with the percentage of students in good standing with attendance (90% days attended or higher) increasing from 52% in 2021/22 to 55% in 2022/2023 and now to an impressive 72% in 2023/2024. This remarkable achievement is a testament to your commitment and perseverance.
As we enter this week of break, lets celebrate our accomplishments and reflect on the journey ahead. Together, we are creating academic gains that will undoubtedly lead to a choice-filled life for each and every one of our students.
Wishing you a rejuvenating break, we will miss you.
Best,
Tyler Dockins, Principal
Bikes 4 Books
sponsored By Lynden/Ferndale International Masonic Lodge #56
The IRE Library is excited to present Bikes 4 Books! This is a program run by the Lynden Masonic Lodge that donates bicycles to local schools to encourage students to read. The program has been running for more than 10 years and has resulted in huge increases in reading participation in |

local elementary and middle schools. We have been given two bikes with helmets that are currently on display in the IRE Library! We will be sharing about this amazing program in the library.
How it works: For each book a student reads at their reading level or higher, they can fill out a giveaway form (extras are available in the library), have a grown up sign it, and enter to win a free bike! They may put their completed slips in the box in the library that corresponds to the bike they wish to try to win. The more books they read, the more entries they get and the better their chance of winning!
Winners will be chosen in a random raffle drawing at the end of April and announced live!
For questions or concerns, please reach out to your IRE Librarians!

For those who don’t know, April 2nd is Autism Awareness/Acceptance Day. Last year IRE staff and students celebrated all month long by reading books to classrooms and having discussions about Autism to raise awareness and acceptance. Staff members and students wore shirts every Friday in support of the Autistic Community. If you or your child would
like to participate, feel free to wear a shirt in support.
One of our very own SLE (Structured Learning Environment) students’ parents work for Fitness Evolution. The gym has graciously created a fundraiser for our SLE program. They are selling shirts, crewnecks and bracelets. The profit from the items will be donated to IRE’s SLE program that supports Autistic students and those with sensory needs. Adult and kid sizes are available. The money donated will be used to purchase sensory tools and equipment.
Items will need to be picked up at Fitness Evolution, 1504 Iowa Street, Bellingham.
