Principal’s Message
IRE Families,
Thank you to all that have served in our military! Your service is greatly appreciated!
In honor of Veteran’s Day, there will be no school on Monday, November 11th. The school year calendars in English and Spanish are available on our website. The 4th grade class gave a wonderful performance to honor the veterans in our community.
Additionally, we are excited to host our first TK-2nd Family Math night on Tuesday, November 12th (check out the adorable picture of one of our students below.) Our kids have been working hard and are averaging around 80% on our module assessments. They’ve done an exceptional job with the increased challenge with our new curriculum.
Last, your child’s teacher will be reaching out shortly about upcoming progress reports with the close of Quarter 1. Grades will be open to families starting Wednesday.
Best,
Tyler Dockins, Principal
Marconi

Weather Alert
Be Prepared: Weather Notifications
As the seasons change and the weather turns colder, it is a good time to take a moment to review our winter weather procedures. Depending on conditions (which could include snow, flooding, power outages, etc.), the school day could be impacted. Meridian School District uses a variety of ways to communicate about school closures or delays:
  • An email, text, app notification and/or phone call will automatically be sent to you via ParentSquare.
  • Tune to local media: 790 AM, 96.5 FM, 104.1 FM or Seattle media.
  • Check www.meridian.wednet.edu
  • Check @meridianschooldistrict505 on Facebook or Instagram
  • Sign up for notifications through FlashAlert
Visit our Weather Notifications webpage for more information about inclement weather and delays.
November’s Emergency Drill
In November, IRE students and staff will be practicing a LOCKDOWN Drill. The following is an example of how we explain a LOCKDOWN Drill to our IRE students:
A LOCKDOWN will be called if there is something dangerous happening inside our building. We might LOCKDOWN if there is a dangerous animal inside our school. We might LOCKDOWN if there is a dangerous person inside our school. Sometimes we might LOCKDOWN if there is a report of a dangerous weapon inside our school.
Schools in our county use the Standard Response Protocol from iloveuguys.org.  You can learn more about the protocol here.
In addition to our Lockdown Drill this month, our lunch and recess monitor team will be teaching students about the plan for responding to emergencies while outside. Ask your student what their job is during an emergency action on the playground.
