The Facilities Task Force recommended that a new Meridian Middle School be built. Information about that process can be found on our website. On Feb. 21, the school board unanimously approved the recommendation from the task force. The district plans to bring this recommendation forward to voters during the November 2024 election. More information will be shared about why these projects were selected and opportunities to tour the current Meridian Middle School will be offered later this spring.
Information about the skills center or early education centers can be found on our website.
One way we gather feedback is through our annual budget survey. Beyond the survey, we would encourage staff to have conversations with their building leaders about areas that require additional support or attention. Our budget process is outlined on our website. Budget planning for next year begins in January.
Yes, this is something we are continuing to work on. We have asked staff to eliminate extra and unnecessary items that draw additional electricity such as small appliances and lights. We also ask staff to turn off devices at night.
We are also working with Whatcom County and Puget Sound Energy on bringing solar panels to Irene Reither Elementary in the next few years.
