Beginning this fall, Meridian School District will be a location in Whatcom County for the Open Doors Reengagement program.
What is Open Doors?
Open Doors Youth Reengagement (WAC 392-700) is a reengagement system that provides education and services to older youth, ages 16-21, who have dropped out of school or are not expected to graduate from high school by the age of 21.
Open Doors reengages disconnected youth through programs that encourage community partnerships, create multiple pathways for students to realize success, and provide an on-ramp to post-secondary achievement through a performance-based, individualized support model.
At NCTA we provide Project-based Learning through our Open Doors program that is like no other program! Building off of the highly successful interactive learning model we utilize every day in our academy courses, our Open Doors students work toward obtaining their high school diploma through a series of real world, project-based modules.
During each module, we develop learning communities so students can collaborate and dive deeply into the topic – all while making significant academic gains as well as enhancing their career and college readiness!
Youth and young adults are entitled to access public education until age 21, even if they have disconnected or have been dropped out. Through our Open Doors program we support severely credit-deficient youth and young adults who
want to re-engage with education. Open Doors, students can continue past their GED, receiving ongoing support toward a high school diploma, job certifications, and even college!
IF you or someone you know is interested in learning more reach out to NCTA TODAY! We’re eager to meet you and help you get started!
