The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) provides supplemental instruction and services to students who are not meeting academic standards in basic skills areas (reading, writing, and mathematics as well as readiness associated with these skills) as identified by statewide, school, or district assessments or other performance measurement tools.

Please refer to OSPI’s Learning Assistant Program webpage for more information.

Eligible Students

Eligible students are those achieving below grade level on the state’s assessment, and 11th and 12th grade students at risk of not graduating. Achievement on district assessment of basic skills may also be considered.

LAP funds are available to support programs in grades K-12 in reading, writing, mathematics, and readiness for those subjects.

In Meridian, we have LAP support teachers and paraeducators that serve students at all schools including in class, pull out and credit retrieval.
