Change in Policy for MHS Weight Room – The Meridian High School weight room is provided by the District for the education and instruction of District students.  Based on guidance from the Washington Risk Management Pool (the District’s insurance provider) the weight room will henceforth be available only to Meridian School District employees and current students.   Members of the public and former students who wish to use District facilities must submit a facility use application to rent the facilities when not in use by students.  However, facility rental of the weight room will not be allowed due the high risk nature of the equipment and potential liability risk to the District.

Nearly 450 parents and community members have volunteered their personal time this year to help in Meridian schools.  We understand that the giving of personal time is priceless and we truly value and appreciate your generous commitment of your time and talents to our schools. Meridian students benefit from your involvement in countless ways while you demonstrate to our students that we are all Meridian “family”.    You are such an important part of our schools. Thank you!

Strategic Planning Survey (Student Performance Metrics) - The District is starting the process to develop a new long-term strategic plan with guidance from Dr. Larry Francois, Superintendent at the Northwest Educational Service District.  The plan will help guide us over the next several years as we strive to “Keep Improving.”  As a first step in the planning process, we are asking students, staff, parents, grandparents, guardians and community members help us prioritize the available measures of student performance (such as test scores, graduation rates, etc. ) that should be included as performance measures in a new long-term strategic plan.

MP3 Extension Students Take the Smarter Balance Assessment At Several Locations Throughout the State – Thank you to the Meridian Parent Partnership Program (MP3) Principal Michelle Siadal and staff for arranging for SBA testing sites for extension students at other Educational Service Districts and local school districts.  Teachers, thank you for traveling to these locations to proctor.  These efforts to provide a high level of customer service to our extension students enabled more students to test in their home area.  Well done MP3!

Next Regular Board Meeting - The next regular School Board meeting is at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 24th 2017. Board meetings are held in the Professional Development/Board Room at MHS.  All staff members are invited and welcome to attend School Board meetings.   Meeting agendas and minutes can be accessed via a link from the District web site or at

Summer School

  • IRE -Summer school at Irene Reither Elementary will begin July 31st and continue through August 18th.  Classes will meet Monday thru Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon. 
  • MHS - Summer school at Meridian High School Credit Retrieval will begin June 26th and continue through July 28th.  Students will participate in Credit Retrieval Monday thru Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m..
