Teaching and Learning: (Patti Fouts, Director of Teaching and Learning)

Professional Learning Communities - Collaborative teams are the fundamental building blocks of PLCs.  This document provides rationale for establishing collaborative teams as the basic structure for PLC work.

In a PLC, a collaborative team is defined as "a group of people working interdependently to achieve a common goal for which members are mutually accountable." (Glossary of Key Terms and Concepts [PDF]. (2016). Solution Tree Press).  This challenging work is supported by establishing and holding one another and ourselves accountable to team norms.

If you haven't done so already, please work with your collaborative team to develop and publish team norms and share them with your Principal by the end of the workday on Friday, October 13.  Include in your norms at least one agreed upon norm for holding yourselves and one another accountable to doing the work of a PLC.

In addition, it's essential for teams to pre-plan for how they will address the inevitable norms violation.  As a team, ask and answer the question: What is our process for holding each other accountable in a respectful and dignified manner?  You should include this norm on your list.

Following are links to answer the why, the what, and the how of establishing norms. They can assist you in norms development.

Welcome Two New Custodial Staff Members - I would like to welcome our two new custodians, Debra Coleman and Kirk Home. Debra is a night custodian at IRE and Kirk is the night custodian at MMS and MP3. Both have been working for the District as substitutes for over a year and are doing a fantastic job. Please join me in welcoming them to our District team.

Transportation: (Mark Dennis, Transportation Supervisor)

New School Bus - Our District just took delivery on a new bus purchase.  The new bus is #39.  It will be on the road soon.  We are also planning on purchasing two more buses this year as we continue keep our fleet updated.
