Meridian Community,

I wanted to share with you a story that Sheree Johnston, the District's family support specialist shared with me.  It is about Madisyn Gulit, one of our newest Trojans (a kindergarten student in Ms. Bruland's class at IRE).

Madisyn wanted to help students who needed a backpack or school supplies at IRE but might not be able to afford it.  She asked her parents if she could do a lemonade stand to raise money to help other students.

Her dad (Kyle) built the lemonade stand and her mom (Tracie) got approval at her work (Windermere Realty) to put up the stand in front of their business.

Well, Madisyn raised $410 and four additional bags of school supplies at her lemonade stand.  She donated the proceeds of her efforts to IRE.  Shereee Johnston will use this money to buy school supplies, backpacks and other needed items for students in need.

I wanted people to know about Madisyn's efforts to help others.  You can send her mom a note for Madisyn if you would like at tracieg@windermere.com.

Thank you to the employees at Windermere and Whatcom Land and Title for their generosity in purchasing lemonade from her stand.

See the attached pictures of Madisyn at her lemonade stand.
