Change in Policy for MHS Weight Room – The Meridian High School weight room is provided by the District for the education and instruction of District students.  Based on guidance from the Washington Risk Management Pool (the District’s insurance provider) the weight room will henceforth be available only to Meridian School District employees and current students.   Members of the public and former students who wish to use District facilities must submit a facility use application to rent the facilities when not in use by students.  However, facility rental of the weight room will not be allowed due the high risk nature of the equipment and potential liability risk to the District.

Learning Assistance Program (LAP)

Program Description

The Learning Assistance Program (LAP) is Washington's state-funded program (WAC 392-162 andChapter 28A.165 RCW) that provides additional academic support to eligible students.

Eligible Students

Eligible students are those achieving below grade level on the state’s assessment, and 11th and 12th grade students at risk of not graduating. Achievement on district assessment of basic skills may also be considered.

LAP funds are available to support programs in grades K-12 in reading, writing, mathematics, and readiness for those subjects.

In Meridian We have LAP support teachers and para educators that serve students at all schools including in class, pull out, credit retrieval, and extended day.
